William H. “Bill” Strunk
Founder, d. 2010
The Strunk & Associates family lost a true leader, mentor and friend on June 10, 2010 with the passing of William H. “Bill” Strunk, Chairman of Strunk & Associates, L.P. after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
Bill was well respected in both the bank and credit union communities. In addition to designing and deploying the original Overdraft Privilege Service Program, Bill was responsible for a number of other innovations now commonly used by banks and credit unions nationwide.
As a respected industry consultant, Bill enjoyed working with the entire organizational staff of financial institutions. Bill liked people and he liked helping them solve problems. He was a consummate professional whose style was strictly hands-on. He constantly looked to find more effective ways to reduce costs and increase delivery efficiency for banks, credit unions and thrifts.
A few of the innovations developed by Strunk which are now standards in the industry include head-on drive-in systems, member satisfaction models, tele-banking, PIN and signature identification systems, and shared ATM networks.
A well known personality in the industry, Strunk was routinely quoted and was author of numerous articles on branch profitability as well as financial services in banking journals and industry trade magazines. He was often a guest speaker and presenter at financial industry conferences and meetings. He also served in an honorary position on the faculty of the Texas Tech School of Banking.
Bill leaves a legacy of financial innovation and a thriving company. He was a well loved family man and close friend to many.
