Mike marks his 38th year in the financial services industry in 2008. Mike began his career working with two major banking organizations from 1970-1995, and occupied key leadership positions in commercial lending and retail banking services during those years. During this period, Mike successfully led organizational units through substantial changes in retail financial services delivery that culminated in responsibility for a half-billion dollar segment of a major east coast banking franchise.
Mike was responsible for the implementation of a wide range of culture-changing initiatives that included a variety of sales management and process improvement programs which resulted in substantial changes in organizational productivity and consultative sales capabilities.
From 1996-2002, Mike was the COO and then CEO of the customer-advantaged alliance programs for a major national banking trade association, and was responsible for creating programs and services for community bankers that created improvements for customer banks in profit enhancement, process improvement, and product/service differentiation for the member banks. Mike has worked with hundreds of community financial institutions to improve their bottom-line profitability and ability to compete in today’s intensely competitive environment. During this period, Mike had the opportunity to survey the competitive landscape of discretionary overdraft programs, including all of the companies now active, as a result of which the Overdraft Privilege Strunk & Associates was chosen as the overwhelming candidate by his bank CEO Board of Directors as the program of choice for his association’s endorsement.
Mike received his BS in Business Administration from George Mason University, and is a graduate of the Virginia School of Bank Management, the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University, and has attended banking courses at the Colgate Darden Business School at the University of Virginia.
